Rice Pudding (KHEER)

This is a sweet pudding which you will need the following ingredients to make:

  • 1/2 cup rice

  • 2 cups whole milk or coconut/almond milk

  • 2 tbsp sugar or coconut sugar/maple syrup

  • handful slivered almonds

  • 1/2 tsp cardamom seeds

  • 1 pinch of saffron threads


There are TWO methods to cook this pudding as follows:


SLOW COOKER

  1. Wash rice & place in a slow cooker along with all ingredients except for almonds and saffron.

  2. Add in 4 cups of milk for slow cooker.

  3. Let cook for 4-5 hours on high heat.

  4. Add slivered almonds and cook for another 10 mins.

  5. Serve in a bowl and garnish with saffron threads.

  6. Mix well and enjoy.


PRESSURE COOKER

  1. Wash rice & place in a slow cooker along with all ingredients except for almonds and saffron.

  2. Pressure cook for 7-10 minutes until rice are well done. Let all the pressure out before opening the pressure cooker.

  3. Add slivered almonds, mix well and let it cook on low heat for about 5 minutes.

  4. Serve in a bowl and garnish with saffron threads.

  5. Mix well and enjoy!
